After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Carthage, The Center Roughriders were happy to have found some success on Friday. They came out on top against Bullard by a score of 40-33. Given Center's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 157th, while Bullard is ranked 342nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Emonte Cross threw for 173 yards and a touchdown on only 15 passes. Travis Belin was his top target, picking up 69 receiving yards. On the ground, Kaden Dixon rushed for 93 yards.
Despite the loss, Bullard still got an impressive performance from Quasy Warren, who rushed for 146 yards and a touchdown. Chase Randall was in the mix as well, providing Bullard with two touchdowns.
Even if they lost, Bullard's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Leading the way was Trey Martin and his two sacks.
Center's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Bullard, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Center will square off against Brownsboro at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Bullard, they will head out on the road to face off against Van at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Van will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
