Moore County and Culleoka are an even 4-4 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Moore County Raiders will welcome the Culleoka Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Moore County hasn't scored more than two runs for four games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.
Moore County blew Cornersville out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Tuesday Cornersville got their revenge. Moore County fell just short of Cornersville by a score of 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Raiders have suffered since April 3, 2024.
Moore County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brantley Hill, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. Luke Stephens also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, Culleoka brought some dynamite into their most recent game. They were the clear victor by a 12-2 margin over Collinwood on Monday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Warriors as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
The team relied heavily on Coltin Butler, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one double and one RBI. Gavin Sartwell was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
Culleoka always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Moore County's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Culleoka, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
Moore County's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's match. Moore County has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Culleoka, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Moore County continue to outrun the ball?
Everything went Moore County's way against Culleoka in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Moore County made off with an 11-1 victory. Will Moore County repeat their success, or does Culleoka have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
