The Rivermont Collegiate Lions won the last time they faced the Morning Star Academy Mustangs, and things went their way on Thursday too. Rivermont Collegiate came out on top against Morning Star Academy by a score of 46-36. The win made it back-to-back wins for Rivermont Collegiate.
Rivermont Collegiate's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Eamon Matlock led the charge by scoring 12 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Another player making a difference was Graham Matlock, who scored 7 points along with 10 rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Morning Star Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Gavin Trotter. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 26 points and 10 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Brady, who scored 5 points along with 4 steals.
The victory got Rivermont Collegiate back to even at 2-2. As for Morning Star Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rivermont Collegiate will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Morning Star Academy at 5:30 p.m. on January 11, 2024. As for Morning Star Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Central DeWitt at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
