Softball Recap: Lutheran Northwest Wins Going Away Against Southfield Christian

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Lutheran Northwest ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They blew past the Southfield Christian Eagles 18-8. Considering the Crusaders have won 11 matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Fiona Hanes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered seven earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks.

On the hitting side, Lutheran Northwest got a massive performance out of Lily Jablonowski, who went 4-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and three doubles. Those three doubles gave Jablonowski a new career-high. Madeline Stoetzer also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Lutheran Northwest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .596. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southfield Christian only posted an OBP of .400.

The victory snapped Lutheran Northwest's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 13-8 record. As for Southfield Christian, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Coming up, Lutheran Northwest will welcome Lutheran at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Southfield Christian, they will challenge Whitmore Lake at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
