Springfield was handed a three-set defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out West Creek 3-2. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Yellow Jackets as it put an end to their three-match losing streak.
Springfield was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-23, 19-25, 25-22, 15-12.
Meanwhile, it was a classic East v. West duel when Northeast challenged West Creek on Monday. The Eagles lost 3-0 to the Coyote.
Northeast was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made West Creek work for it, especially in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 28-26, 25-18, 25-12.
Springfield's win bumped their record up to 4-13. As for Northeast, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 4-13.
