Castle unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 33-22 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Evansville North Huskies on Friday. While the Knights had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Huskies 16-12.
Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed 14 in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Ben Quach, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Evansville North got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jayden Jones out in front who rushed for 74 yards and one TD, and also threw for 70 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes. Another rusher making a difference was Quaithan Pauley, who gained 90 total yards and a touchdown.
