The El Capitan Gauchos entered their tilt with the Buhach Colony Thunder with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. El Capitan put the hurt on the Thunder with a sharp 66-44 win on Friday. With El Capitan ahead 37-17 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Braylen Centeno was his usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with seven rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Diego Ultreras, who scored four points along with 11 assists and seven rebounds.
Buhach Colony's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elijah Garza, who scored nine points along with five steals. Carter Chapman was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
El Capitan has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a massive bump to their 15-9 record this season. As for Buhach Colony, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-16.
El Capitan will head out on the road to challenge the Cougars at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Golden Valley is on a six-game streak of home wins, the Gauchos a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Buhach Colony will take on the Hawks at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Central Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 35 on Friday.
