Calvary Baptist Academy is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Thursday. They will host the Union Parish Farmers at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Calvary Baptist Academy turned things around against Family Community Christian on Monday. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over Family Community Christian.

Judson Funderburk spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 13 Ks. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024.
At the plate, Christian Ashworth was incredible, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Cooper Holmes, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Union Parish, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They blew past Booker T. Washington-Shreveport 16-1 on Tuesday. With that win, the Farmers brought their scoring average up to 6.9 runs per game.
Jose Rodriguez made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Rodriguez was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-2.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Khaidyn Johnson, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3. Union Parish is 3-1 when Johnson posts two or more runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Marcus Ross was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-2.
Union Parish kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 3.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 10.2.
Union Parish pushed their record up to 5-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Calvary Baptist Academy, their win bumped their record up to 13-8.
Everything went Calvary Baptist Academy's way against Union Parish when the teams last played back in March of 2021, as Calvary Baptist Academy made off with a 7-0 victory.
