The Mart Panthers had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Overton 66-20 on the road. The victory was just business as usual for Mart, who after 12 games remain undefeated this season.
Leading Mart to victory were Jd Bell and De'Montrel Medlock. Bell rushed for 209 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 9.5 yards per carry, while Medlock rushed for 223 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 13.9 yards per carry. Medlock's longest rush was for an incredible 76 yards.
Overton's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Isaiah Hawkins, who picked up 146 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Jayden Edwards was another key contributor, picking up 168 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Mart's win bumped their record up to 12-0. As for Overton, their loss dropped their record down to 10-2.
Mart will square off against Deweyville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Deweyville is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Overton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
