Baseball Recap: Belfry Takes a Loss

Belfry dropped their record down to 18-8 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Paintsville Tigers, falling 8-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 1-0 back in April.

Belfry saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was David Michael Hagy, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases. Hagy has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

As for Paintsville, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games.

On Paintsville's side, they let Anderson Lauffer and Lukas Stewart run wild. Lauffer got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base, while Stewart went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. Brayden Davis also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Belfry wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, an 11-0 win against Floyd Central on the 15th. As for Paintsville, they have also already played their next game, a 15-5 victory against Prestonsburg on the 15th.
