The Elgin Academy Hilltoppers pushed their score all the way to 62 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 70-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of Northridge. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Wednesday (59), Elgin Academy still had to take the loss.
When it comes to explaining why Elgin Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Chris Tacher. Despite the final result, he scored 33 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Tacher has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Tayten Wilder, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Elgin Academy's loss dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Northridge, their victory was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-6.
Elgin Academy will head out on the road to face off against Schaumburg Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Schaumburg Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matches -- so hopefully Elgin Academy likes a good challenge. As for Northridge, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Camanche at 3:00 p.m. on January 27th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in their respective states (Camanche is ranked 239th in Iowa, while Northridge is ranked 260th in Illinois).
