Springfield is 3-0 against Cahokia since November of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Springfield Senators will head out on the road to face off against the Cahokia Comanches at 7:00 p.m. Cahokia took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Springfield, who comes in off a win.
Springfield has not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They walked away with a 57-48 win over Mattoon on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Cahokia's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their 11th straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 80-54 walloping at the hands of Lanphier. While losing is never fun, Cahokia can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 487th, while Lanphier is ranked 170th).
Despite the defeat, Cahokia saw an underclassman step up: Corrion Raiford scored 20 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. It was the first time this season that Raiford posted two or more blocks. Keontae Morris was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Springfield's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-18. As for Cahokia, they dropped their record down to 1-23 with that loss, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Springfield was able to grind out a solid win over Cahokia in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, winning 82-72. The rematch might be a little tougher for Springfield since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
