Friendship Christian took a hard 73-56 fall against Thales Academy Apex on Thursday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Several Falcons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Eugene Amadi, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds. Amadi is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down 11 or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Liam Willis, who scored 18 points along with five steals.
Thales Academy Apex's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nathan Purvis, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Purvis is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last 14 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Justin Brown, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Friendship Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Thales Academy Apex, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-22.
Friendship Christian will be playing in front of their home fans against Epiphany at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Friendship Christian is facing Epiphany at the right time seeing as Epiphany is stuck on a 13-game losing streak. As for Thales Academy Apex, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th. Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill will be up against Thales Academy Apex's rather soft defense (which has allowed 51.85 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive showing.
