After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Franklin Academy, the Neuse Charter Cougars were happy to have found some success on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 54-39 victory over Southside Christian. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Neuse Charter has managed all season.
Neuse Charter's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayvin Bradley, who scored 23 points along with five rebounds and two steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Bradley has scored at least a third of Neuse Charter's points. Jayden Atkinson was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with ten rebounds and three steals.
Neuse Charter's win ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-14. As for Southside Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Neuse Charter will take on North Duplin at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. North Duplin knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully Neuse Charter likes a good challenge.
