The Land O' Lakes Gators will take on the Osceola Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Tuesday, Land O' Lakes earned a 7-3 win over River Ridge.
Miyah Davis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jaila Mitchell, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Mariah Thompson, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Mitchell wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Land O' Lakes lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Osceola's hitters rose to the challenge against a Seahawks pitching crew that boasted an average of only 3.71 runs allowed on Tuesday. The Warriors blew past Sunlake 12-4. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won 13 contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Osceola also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Aliyah Lai gave up five earned runs on seven hits.
On the hitting side, Osceola got a massive performance out of Bri Shephard, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Angelina Rodriguez was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
The victory made it two in a row for Osceola and bumps their season record up to 16-6. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Land O' Lakes, the victory got them back to even at 11-11.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Land O' Lakes has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Osceola struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Land O' Lakes skirted past Osceola 4-2 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Do the Gators have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
