Football Recap: Union Extends Home Winning Streak to Four

Union won against Gate City last Friday with 42 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. The Bears beat the Ridgeview Wolfpack by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 42-21. Fans of the Bears have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Keith Chandler was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 290 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.7 yards per carry. Kam Bostic was another key player, rushing for 82 yards and one score on only nine carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Union was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 418 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Union didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Camden Maddux and Carlos Anderson.

Union pushed their record up to 7-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their offensive performance: the team's won by an average of 27.5 points thus far. As for Ridgeview, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.

Coming up, Union will host Lebanon at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th. The Bears will need to watch out since the Pioneers have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Ridgeview, they are taking a road trip to take on John Battle at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th.
