The Franklin County Rebels will head out to take on the East Limestone Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Franklin County will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Franklin County took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Sequatchie County, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Rebels had just enough and edged out the Indians 3-2 on Thursday.
Cameron Denton looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).
At the plate, Franklin County's victory was truly a team effort as nine different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Layton Jones, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that Jones has hit this season.
Franklin County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, East Limestone was able to grind out a solid win over St. John Paul II on Tuesday, taking the game 7-3. The victory continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won five in a row.
Charlie Eslick and Matthew Drake made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Eslick struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Drake tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Eslick has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Eslick went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI, while Drake went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Coleby Davis, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Compton, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Franklin County's record is now 4-2. As for East Limestone, their record now sits at 8-3.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Franklin County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .343. However, it's not like East Limestone struggles in that department as they've averaged .336. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Franklin County came out on top in a nail-biter against East Limestone in their previous matchup back in March of 2025, sneaking past 8-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rebels since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
