There's no place like home for the Nolensville Knights, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 45-29 victory over Centennial on Wednesday. Given Nolensville's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 106th, while the Cougars are ranked 313th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Nolensville got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Sara Brakefield out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. It was the first time this season that Brakefield scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Nyla Johnson, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds and five assists.
When it comes to explaining why Centennial lost, one person who can't be blamed is Addison Gorday. Despite the final result, she scored 14 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Pauley, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Centennial struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Nolensville racked up 12 assists.
Nolensville's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-7. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.7 points per game. As for Centennial, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-19.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. As for Centennial, they and the Spartans will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
