Ashton Davis and Jeffrey Crain made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Davis didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Crain pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the most strikeouts Davis has posted since back in February. At the plate, Davis scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Crain scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Admiral Farragut got a massive performance out of Elliot Heinicka, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases Heinicka has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Noah Anderson, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
Admiral Farragut was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .483. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lakewood Ranch Preparatory Academy). They never let Tournament Opponent get on the board and left with a 14-0 win on Saturday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Ryan O'Leary was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. O'Leary was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Matthew O'Leary and Andrew Cordani did most of the damage at the plate: Matthew went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base, while Cordani scored three runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3. Cordani is becoming a predictor of Lakewood Ranch Preparatory Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 1-3 when he doesn't). Chris Serrapica was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs and one triple.
Admiral Farragut's win bumped their record up to 5-10. As for Lakewood Ranch Preparatory Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Admiral Farragut has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Lakewood Ranch Preparatory Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
