Loyola Academy extended the longest winning streak in Chicago Catholic - Blue this week by beating Brother Rice, 45-0. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
Loyola Academy took down the Crusaders 45-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Peter Pujals threw for 106 yards and ran for 85 yards in the win.
John Holecek's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Julius Holley chipped in 89 yards. Jimmy Mangan helped Loyola Academy's passing attack out by catching three balls for 25 yards.
Richard Wehman was the best wideout in the league this week as the Ramblers defeated Brother Rice. Wehman racked up six receptions for 66 yards.
John Rushin made the biggest impact on defense this week as Loyola Academy topped Steve Nye's team. The 6-foot-5 senior racked up two sacks.
The Ramblers' Pujals and Luke Ford have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Pujals has thrown for 1446 yards this season, while Ford, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 22 catches for 420 yards. Brandon Price from Providence Catholic leads the league in rushing with 540 yards.
The marquee game in Chicago Catholic - Blue this week will be the clash between the Celtics and Mount Carmel. Providence Catholic enters the game ranked 13th in the state, while the Caravan ranks sixth.
There should be lots of points scored when Loyola Academy and St. Rita face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Ramblers comes in having scored 297 this season, while the Mustangs have scored 213. Loyola Academy scored 45 points last week as it beat the Crusaders.
Mount Carmel made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 216 from 332. The improvement was the result of 27-0 victory over St. Rita last week.
