Alleghany lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Patrick County, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's matchup. Alleghany was the clear victor by a 7-1 margin over Patrick County on Friday. The result was nothing new for Alleghany, who have now won five games by six runs or more so far this season.

Alleghany has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Patrick County, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 14-4.

Alleghany and Patrick County should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings. The Cougars (ranked 50th) will meet Floyd County (ranked 163rd) at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Patrick County will face off against Carroll County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (93 vs. 215).
