After a string of nine wins, the McFarland Cougars's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 75-65 to Taft. McFarland was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Taft got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Blaine Neudorf out in front who scored 32 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. Neudorf has been hot recently, having posted 18 or more points the last 13 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Phillips, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds.
McFarland's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 20-7. As for Taft, they pushed their record up to 16-9 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McFarland will challenge the Thunderbirds at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Kennedy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1124th, while the Cougars are ranked 557th). As for Taft, they will head out on the road to square off against the Titans at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
