The Nitro Wildcats will square off against the East Fairmont Bees at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Nitro has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 343 points over their last five matchups.
Last Saturday, everything came up roses for Nitro on the road against the Pioneers as the team secured a 75-45 win. Given Nitro's advantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while the Pioneers are ranked 84th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ashton Crouch and Timmy Lovejoy were among the main playmakers for Nitro as the former scored 22 points along with six rebounds and the latter dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. Ty Stephens was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Meanwhile, East Fairmont didn't have too much trouble with the Minutemen on the road on Wednesday as they won 59-43.
Nitro's win bumped their record up to 14-1. As for East Fairmont, they pushed their record up to 10-5 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Nitro was able to grind out a solid victory over the Bees when the teams last played back in December of 2023, winning 69-58. The rematch might be a little tougher for Nitro since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
