Baseball Recap: Troy Takes a Loss

Friday just wasn't the day for Troy's offense. They fell just short of the Albany Academy for Boys Cadets by a score of 1-0 on Friday. The Flying Horses were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cadets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2022.

Keegan Armstrong was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has become a key player for Troy: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-5 otherwise.

At the plate, Jack Fraser was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one double.

Troy dropped their record down to 6-6 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Albany Academy for Boys, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-5.

Looking ahead, Troy will be playing at home against Voorheesville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Flying Horses are facing the Blackbirds at the right time seeing as the Blackbirds are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Albany Academy for Boys, they will head out on the road to take on Schalmont at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
