In what's become a running theme this season, the Cherokee Braves gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They really took it to Nantahala for the full four quarters, racking up a 68-30 victory on the road. With Cherokee ahead 49-19 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Elijah Lineberry continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Traelin Carey, who scored 11 points.
Cherokee pushed their record up to 7-6 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.7 points per game. As for Nantahala, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.
Cherokee on the road again on Wednesday and play against Highlands at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th. Highlands has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 4. As for Nantahala, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Swain County at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th. Swain County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six games -- so hopefully Nantahala likes a good challenge.
