Primero is 10-0 against Antonito since February of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Primero Bulldogs will head out on the road to challenge the Antonito Trojans at 2:30 p.m. Primero will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Primero only won by two when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 36-point they dealt Manzanola on Wednesday. Primero took their game at home with ease, bagging a 62-26 win over Manzanola. The team ran away with 51 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those to pick up the win.
It was another big night for Mathew Pachorek, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and five blocks. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brett Kendal, who scored 14 points.
Meanwhile, Antonito struggled with offensive rebounds on Saturday (Creede had 15 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Antonito took a hard 59-43 fall against Creede.
The losing side was boosted by Jasiah Jiron, who shot 4-for-6 from long range and dropped a double-double on 26 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jesus Madril, who scored four points along with five rebounds.
Antonito struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Primero is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season. As for Antonito, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.
Primero took their win against Antonito when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 63-43. Does Primero have another victory up their sleeve, or will Antonito turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
