Baseball Game Preview: Howell Rebels vs. Wall Township Crimson Knights

The Howell Rebels will venture away from home to face off against the Wall Township Crimson Knights at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Wall Township took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Howell, who comes in off a win.

Howell took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over Jackson Memorial.

Phillip Christopher tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Howell is 5-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 6-8-1 otherwise.

At the plate, Aaron Wojenski was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Howell is undefeated when Wojenski posts two or more runs, but 8-9-1 otherwise. Brody Loch was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Howell hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive matches.

Wall Township had taken Rumson-Fair Haven down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Wednesday. The Crimson Knights took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs.

Howell has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-9-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Wall Township, their loss dropped their record down to 8-8.

Howell came out on top in a nail-biter against Wall Township in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Do the Rebels have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Crimson Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
