If the Tulelake Honkers were feeling good off their 55-33 takedown of Bethel Christian on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Tulelake had to suffer through a rough 87-45 loss at the hands of Fall River. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Tulelake in their matchups with Fall River: they've now lost nine in a row.
Several Honkers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Leo Leon, who scored 26 points along with seven rebounds. Leon continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Garcia, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Tulelake struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Fall River racked up 32 assists.
Fall River got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Raul Iniguez out in front who scored 23 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Those 23 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Brandon Brown, who scored 21 points along with eight assists and three steals.
Tulelake's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Fall River, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 8-1.
Tulelake's road trip will continue as they head out to face Modoc at 8:00 p.m. on December 15th. Hopefully Modoc focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Thursday. Fall River won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Portola at 2:40 p.m. on December 15th. Portola is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 61.4 points per game.
