Carroll is 9-0 against Tri-County since August of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Carroll Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Tri-County Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Carroll comes in on nine and Tri-County on four.
Last Friday, Carroll got themselves on the board against Sheridan, but Sheridan never followed suit. Everything went their way against the Blackhawks as they made off with a 24-0 win. Fans of Carroll have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Meanwhile, Tri-County took their match on the road on Friday with ease, bagging a 56-20 win over North Newton. The result was nothing new for Tri-County, who have now won three contests by 24 points or more so far this season.
Tri-County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jonathan Pearson out in front who rushed for 123 yards and four touchdowns on only 11 carries. Pearson is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last five games he's played. Gabe Sanders was another major influence, as he rushed for 61 yards and ran in a TD.
Tri-County's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB nine times. The heavy lifting was done by Sanders and Kevin Martinez who racked up nine sacks between them.
Their wins bumped Carroll to 9-0 and Tri-County to 5-3.
Everything came up roses for Carroll against Tri-County in their previous meeting back in August of 2022 as the squad secured a 51-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Carroll since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
