McQueen is 10-0 against Carson since January of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The McQueen Lancers will head out on the road to face off against the Carson Senators at 5:15 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
McQueen suffered their biggest loss since December 21, 2023 on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 51-30 walloping at the hands of Douglas. While losing is never fun, McQueen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 67th, while Douglas is ranked 12th).
Caitlin Hilson put forth a good effort for the losing side as she dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Carson's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Douglas, falling 57-16. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Carson in their matchups with Douglas: they've now lost five in a row.
The losing side was boosted by Dahlia Keating, who scored eight points along with two steals.
McQueen's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 5-12. As for Carson, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: McQueen have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 32.8 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Carson, though, as they've been averaging only 34.1 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
McQueen was able to grind out a solid victory over Carson in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, winning 36-27. The rematch might be a little tougher for McQueen since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
