Block Island had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They took down Blackstone Valley Prep 37-22 on Saturday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Block Island also won the last time the pair played back in January.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Block Island to victory, but perhaps none more so than Haley Conant, who scored six points along with 12 rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Bailey Payne, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and four blocks.
Block Island pushed their record up to 1-0 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Blackstone Valley Prep, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-2.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Johnston the next time they take the court. Blackstone Valley Prep will host Johnston at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Block Island will head out to face them at 12:30 p.m. on Friday.
