Basketball Recap: Gray Collegiate Academy Piles Up the Points Against Aiken

Gray Collegiate Academy entered their tilt with Aiken on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They took their matchup with ease, bagging an 85-37 win over the Aiken Fighting Green Hornets. Given the War Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while the Fighting Green Hornets are ranked 131st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Gray Collegiate Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lamont (Lj) Britt, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards. The dominant performance gave Britt a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Mcgraw, who went 6 of 8 en route to 15 points.

Gray Collegiate Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Aiken only racked up nine assists.

Armani Jones and Tre'Von Walker certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Jones posted ten points, while Walker put up eight points. Jeremiah Corley also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Gray Collegiate Academy is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.6 points per game. As for Aiken, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-10.

Gray Collegiate Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-48 victory against Hammond on the 20th. As for Aiken, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 67-53 win against Airport on the 24th.
