3A Region III District 17 recap Nov. 7, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to La Vega, who took down 129th ranked Connally, 48-45.
The Pirates moved up to 111 from 157 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 3A Region III District 17. La Vega was able to make move up by beating the Cadets 48-45.
Lorena's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Harris Coleman threw for 161 and two touchdowns and Brian Bays had 81 yards receiving. On the ground Coleman chipped in 110 yards. Cole Channon helped Lorena's passing attack out by catching three balls for 53 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Leopards take on China Spring. Lorena is currently in first, while the Cougars are in fourth.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Ray Biles' team takes on China Spring. The Leopards have allowed 176 points this season, while Mark Bell's team has given up 208. Lorena allowed 3 points last week as it bested West.
The Cougars and Robinson played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with the Cougars eventually emerging with a 36-35 victory.
