Hoover (Ala.) didn't let up as Saturday's game came to a close, scoring seven in the fourth quarter to seal a 28-6 victory over
Hillcrest (Tuscaloosa, Ala.).
After taking the lead on an
Alex Elam touchdown run in the second quarter, the Buccaneers were up 14-3 at the half.
Hoover grew its lead to 15 points entering the fourth quarter. The Buccaneers' lone score in the quarter came on a
Julian Lucas touchdown run.
Led by
Marlon Humphrey, Hoover went into the matchup giving up only 6.3 points per game.
The loss comes after Hillcrest defeated Jackson-Olin 38-19 last week. The loss broke Hillcrest's three-game winning streak.
In a 6A Region 5 game next week Hoover (7-0) takes on Minor, and Hillcrest (4-3) will go up against Tuscaloosa County also in a 6A Region 5 game.
