Chaparral has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Mountain Vista Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Castle View scored an imposing 62 points on Tuesday, Chaparral still came out on top. Chaparral managed a 68-62 victory over Castle View. Given Chaparral's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while Castle View is ranked 57th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Chaparral relied on the efforts of Christian Williams, who scored 17 points along with six steals, and Gavin Carter, who scored 24 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Williams hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games. Luke Howery was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds and three blocks.
Meanwhile, Mountain Vista beat Castle View 63-50 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Mountain Vista.
Cal Baskind continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 17 points along with two steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Oliver Junker, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds and two blocks.
Chaparral has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Mountain Vista, their win bumped their record up to 10-2.
Chaparral might still be hurting after the 75-49 loss they got from Mountain Vista when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Can Chaparral avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
