Village has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. The Village Vikings and the Second Baptist Eagles will round out the year against one another at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday at. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Thursday, Village didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Houston HomeSchool, but they still walked away with a 60-54 victory.
Meanwhile, Second Baptist came up short against Episcopal on Tuesday and fell 66-56.
Second Baptist's defeat came about despite a quality game from Dyllan Thompson, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. Those 13 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Christian Haskett, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Village has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-10 record this season. As for Second Baptist, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-7.
Village came up short against Second Baptist when the teams last played back in October, falling 66-53. Can Village avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
