The State College Little Lions lost against the Carlisle Thundering Herd on January 3rd, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. State College took a 63-46 bruising from Carlisle. While losing is never fun, State College can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 178th, while Carlisle is ranked 26th).
When it comes to explaining why State College lost, one person who can't be blamed is Charlie Yartz. Despite the final result, he scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Angus, who scored nine points.
State College has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for Carlisle, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 14-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. State College won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Williamsport at 7:30 p.m. on January 27th. Williamsport is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. As for Carlisle, they will head out on the road to square off against Altoona at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
