Tug Valley has gone 8-2 against St. Joseph Central recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Panthers will be taking part in a tournament against the Irish at 6:00 p.m. Tug Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
Tug Valley is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Sherman just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They lost 9-2 to the Tide.
Tug Valley saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bailee Hall, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Aleksah Osborne also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, St. Joseph Central posted their closest victory since March 19th on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Tolsia, sneaking past 6-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Irish.
Kate Oxley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on two hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, Brooklyn Anderson was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.
St. Joseph Central's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-9. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Tug Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Tug Valley has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like St. Joseph Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Tug Valley was able to grind out a solid win over St. Joseph Central in their previous matchup back in April, winning 7-2. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Irish turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
