Basketball Game Preview: Sage Creek Bobcats vs. St. Augustine Saints

Having just played yesterday, the Sage Creek Bobcats will get right back to it and host the St. Augustine Saints at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sage Creek knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully St. Augustine likes a good challenge.

Sage Creek is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed by San Dieguito Academy to the tune of 112-35 on Wednesday. Given the Bobcats' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 179th, while the Mustangs are ranked 1242nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sage Creek to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kayden Naccarato, who posted 13 points and seven assists. Those seven assists gave Naccarato a new career-high. Vaughn Young was another key player, putting up 16 points.

Naccarato wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Sage Creek was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for St. Augustine, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They came out on top against Patrick Henry by a score of 59-52 on Tuesday.

St. Augustine pushed their record up to 10-13 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.1 points per game. As for Sage Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a massive bump to their 13-7 record this season.
