The Hesston Swathers had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 42.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 52-40 win over Clay Center. Given Hesston's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while Clay Center is ranked 124th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Reed Friesen, who scored 21 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Jackson Fry was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Hesston pushed their record up to 10-1 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.7 points per game. As for Clay Center, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Hesston and Holcomb will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 20th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Holcomb knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Hesston likes a good challenge. As for Clay Center, Clay Center and Remington will face off on January 20th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
