Basketball Game Preview: Morgan Township Cherokees vs. Washington Township Senators

After both having extra time off, the Morgan Township Cherokees and the Washington Township Senators will dust off their jerseys to take on one another at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Morgan Township is coming into the contest on the come-up as their season has now been buoyed by two straight wins. They simply couldn't be stopped two weeks ago as they easily beat Knox 56-26.

Morgan Township found their leader in sophomore Cal Lemmons, who went 8 for 10 on his way to 21 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lemmons has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jett Gheaja, who posted six points and three steals.

Morgan Township was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Knox only posted six assists.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Washington Township two weeks ago. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew West Central out of the water with a 66-39 final score. The Senators have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 21 points or more this season.

Morgan Township's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-7. As for Washington Township, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.

Morgan Township was able to grind out a solid victory over Washington Township when the teams last played back in February of 2024, winning 52-45. Will Morgan Township repeat their success, or does Washington Township have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
