The Haines City Hornets suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Friday. They fell just short of Ridge Community by a score of 53-51. Haines City has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Haines City lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jorge Ramirez, who scored 14 points along with two steals. Trevon Davis was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Eddy Hyppolite jr. was his usual excellent self, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds and five steals for Ridge Community. Hyppolite jr. has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tarique Kennedy, who scored ten points along with three blocks.
Haines City has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season. As for Ridge Community, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Haines City will take on McKeel Academy at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. McKeel Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Haines City in Florida (McKeel Academy is ranked 229th, while Haines City is ranked 551st). As for Ridge Community, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Kathleen at 8:00 p.m.
