It was a good run, but the Moon Valley Rockets unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell to Thunderbird 55-49. If Moon Valley hoped to take revenge for the 78-56 defeat against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
When it comes to explaining why Moon Valley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Damion Miller-Coleman. Despite the final result, he scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. That was a full 44.9% of Moon Valley's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Eddie Boone, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Thunderbird to victory, but perhaps none more so than Paris Strozier jr, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Calcaterra, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
Moon Valley now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Thunderbird, they pushed their record up to 13-5 with that win, which was their tenth straight at home.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Moon Valley will take on Shadow Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Shadow Mountain focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Thursday. As for Thunderbird, they will be playing at home against Yuma at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Yuma is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 61.5 points per game.
