Leading Middletown to victory were Shalyn Smith and Tessa Porch. Smith scored 12 points along with five assists and four steals, while Porch scored 22 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Smith is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Sophia Abanador, who scored five points.
Maloney dropped their record down to 1-12 with that loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.9 points per game. As for Middletown, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-3.
Maloney will head out on the road to face off against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Masuk presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Spartans in Connecticut (the Panthers are ranked 24th, while the Spartans are ranked 135th). As for Middletown, they will be playing at home against the Rebels at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
