The Royal Falcons will head out on the road to face off against the La Marque Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. La Marque took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Royal, who comes in off a win.
Even though Sweeny scored an imposing 31 points on Friday, Royal still came out on top. Royal secured a 36-31 W over Sweeny. Royal didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this victory makes it their second in a row.
Royal can attribute much of their success to Zakai Anderson, who gained 251 total yards and a touchdown, and Ashton Robinson, who rushed for 104 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries. Royal also got help from Noah Lasker who showed off his sure hands for 83 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, La Marque ended up a good deal behind Columbia on Friday and lost 28-13. La Marque has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Royal has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for La Marque, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.
Everything came up roses for Royal against La Marque in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 47-7 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Royal since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
