The Evergreen Park Mustangs on the road again on Saturday and play against the De La Salle Meteors at 3:00 p.m. on January 20th. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Last Thursday, things could have been worse for Evergreen Park, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 51-32 loss to Thornton Fractional South. Evergreen Park has not had much luck with Thornton Fractional South recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Meanwhile, De La Salle came up short against St. Francis on Thursday and fell 51-41. While losing is never fun, De La Salle can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 328th, while St. Francis is ranked 72nd).
Evergreen Park's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 4-8. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.0 points per game. As for De La Salle, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-15.
Evergreen Park came up short against De La Salle when the teams last played back in November of 2022, falling 40-33. Can Evergreen Park avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
