Yuma Catholic found out winning isn't easy when you make seven fewer threes than your opponent.
Despite the loss, Yuma Catholic still got an impressive performance from Amanda Wiley, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. Wiley is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Sadie Estes was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Izabella Juarez had a dynamite game for American Leadership Academy - West Foothills, shooting 8-for-14 from deep and dropping a double-double on 35 points and ten steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Cambrie Owen, who scored three points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Yuma Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 9-8. As for American Leadership Academy - West Foothills, their victory bumped their record up to 5-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Yuma Catholic and River Valley will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 17th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully River Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Friday. As for American Leadership Academy - West Foothills, they will head out on the road to take on Tonopah Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Tonopah Valley is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
