Walnut Grove posted their biggest victory since December 18, 2023 on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 51-30 margin over Lebanon Trail. Given Walnut Grove's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 425th, while Lebanon Trail is ranked 944th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Independence's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 61-29 loss at the hands of Heritage. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Independence has suffered since December 12, 2023.
Walnut Grove's victory bumped their record up to 14-10. As for Independence, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-20.
Everything came up roses for Walnut Grove against Independence when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 51-5 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Walnut Grove since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
