There's no place like home for the Timnath Cubs, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Saturday. They really took it to Brush for the full four quarters, racking up a 53-16 win at home. With Timnath ahead 31-6 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Timnath found their leader in underclassman Jack Hemme, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds. It was the first time this season that Hemme scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Jacobson, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Despite the defeat, Brush saw an underclassman step up: Dray Bauer scored six points along with two steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Brush struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Timnath's win bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Brush, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Timnath will take on the Huskies at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Highland is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 69.2 points per game this season. As for Brush, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Indians at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th. One thing working in Strasburg's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven matchups.
