If Iroquois/Lake Preston hoped to take revenge for the 56-34 defeat against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Castlewood's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sophia Kudrna, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Kudrna has scored all season. Claire Horn was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
Iroquois/Lake Preston's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-6. As for Castlewood, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-9 record this season.
Iroquois/Lake Preston won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against James Valley Christian at 6:30 p.m. on January 27th. James Valley Christian is on a four-game streak of home wins, Iroquois/Lake Preston a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Castlewood will take on DeSmet at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Dakota (DeSmet is ranked 93rd, while Castlewood is ranked 79th).
